About the Artist
One of America's premier pet portrait artist, Constance Depler Coleman, combined her love of animals with the fun of going out with friends. She created a wide range of drawings in which she gave fun personalities to dogs and drew them sitting at the bar, drinking, dancing, playing cards, and in general, cavorting the night away in entertaining scenes - the Great Dane talking with the Fi-Fi poodle or the suave Doberman Pincer trying to charm the Boxer's girl. These may seem like unusual scenarios, but these "Bar Hounds" are all part of the playful world that Depler created in the late 50's and 60's.
Customers loved the designs so much they started buying the samples and hanging them on the wall. Many of her early efforts are now considered collector's items or are still in print, truly "evergreen".
Constance Depler Coleman's daughter, Amanda Voss, has seen and heard the love that people have for her monther's artwork and wanted to make it available in a wider range of products. As a result, she has created a business, combining this artwork with purses, wallets, dopp kits, technology covers (iPads, Nooks, Kindles) and more.
In addition to the "Bar Hounds" retro art, many of the animal portraits done by Coleman are also available options on the variety of products on this webstie. Her commissioned portraits have brought pets' personalities to life across the U.S. and Europe for many, including prominent business executives, rock stars and celebrities such as Oprah Winfrey, Oscar de la Renta, T.Boone Pickens and President George W. Bush. She has also been the subject of many featured articles in over two dozen newspapers and magazines ranging from the Los Angeles Times to Forbes Magazine and was featured in TV programs on the Disney Channel and Animal Planet.
